Let's Begin

Cody and I are starting this blog mainly because we were bored last night and after reading other couple's blogs on DIY home improvement, we thought this might be a fun way to capture our house projects and see how it evolves until the day we sell it. We'll see how long this lasts. For now, I will try to start at the beginning.

We (and when I saw "we", I mean Cody) bought our first home in May 2011 and moved in July 8th. It's a 1954 ranch house in Webster Groves, MO sitting on top a hill. It has about 1200 sq ft on the main floor thanks to an addition in the 1980s which added a bedroom and master suite. Compared to all the other houses we saw in our price range and preferred area of STL, this house was a no-brainer. I am terrible at making decisions and even I decided by noon the day we saw it that we must get it. Not only was it one of the lower priced homes, but it also had three good-sized bedrooms, lots of closet space, a basement and 2 full bathrooms. Most of the others were cramped into around 900sq ft and only 2 bed/1bath. The bummers about it are that it doesn't have a garage, just a carport, and we bought it from a house-flipper which is kind of scary because the quality of some of their quick renos isn't the best. However, we still felt that the goods outweighed the bad and we went for it.

So that is the gist of the story of our first home. Now to plan our next project!
